The Very First Blog

I have finally arrived! I am blogging for the very first time.

What will I Blog about? Who am I? Why call myself Planet Vet? Who is my Avatar? 

These questions will form part of the nucleus of this Blog. I am a veterinarian, very interested in the health of the planet. Veterinarians are charged with Public Health - which means that I can be responsible for Human Beings as well as animals. But Humans and animals do not exist in a vacuum. We are part of a vast ecology that includes plants, water, air, the soil, oceans - in short - the entire planet.

Some of the topics I will be blogging about may seem very disparate - and in fact may eventually spin off into other blogs with a more narrow focus. However, the experiment with this blog will be to start showing how we are ALL inter-related and part of a Living Planet. Our spiritual identity as Human Beings, our very paradigms about cause and effect, health and disease, being "part" of Nature or "separate" from Nature - are all part of the mix. So, in signing off on this, the very first BLOG - I will close with a vision, promise and declaration I formulated in 2004 - what I call my Promise to the World:

"By 2020, I promise a world in which all people embrace the Living Planet - and each other - with love and honor."
